How to connect ZigBee devices to a Raspberry Pi

Description
In this tutorial, I will show you how to connect ZigBee devices to your Raspberry Pi using a gateway. I am using Home Assistant OS, but this tutorial can be applied to many other OS setups with Home Assistant installed too.
The goal is to have a clean Raspberry Pi Home Assistant setup without needing additional ZigBee bridges and cloud services.
What do you need?
- A Raspberry Pi 3 or newer.
- An SD card with Home Assistant OS installed. If you have not installed Home Assistant OS yet you can use their Official Installation Documentation to do so.
- A ZigBee gateway like the RaspBee II that I am using. You can find a list of compatible gateways on the ZigBee Home Automation integration page.
- Compatible ZigBee Devices. You can use this website created by blakadder to check device compatibility.
